Electric Aggregation

The Village’s electric aggregation program with IGS Energy offers a rate at $0.0527 per kilowatt hour for a three-year term from September 2017 through August 2020.

Residents can also choose a renewable green power rate that will be $0.002 higher per kilowatt hour.  The green power option is wind power electricity and may be requested by residents after enrollment into the Village’s aggregation program and contacting IGS directly.

If you are with another supplier and would like to switch to the Village’s aggregation program you should check with your existing supplier for related cancellation fees.  After you cancel your existing contract, contact IGS Energy and tell them you want to join the Amberley Village electric aggregation program.   There are no additional fees associated with the Village’s aggregation programs and you may join or cancel at any time.

Natural Gas Aggregation

The Village’s natural gas aggregation program with IGS Energy offers a variable rate each month with the ability to secure a fixed rate to provide price certainty should a favorable market opportunity present itself.

While the electric rate is fixed to coincide with Duke Energy’s retail rates which are generally set at three year terms, conversely, Duke’s natural gas rate is variable and also changes month-to-month. Prices in the current natural gas market fluctuate not only due to weather but also in terms of electric generation fueled by natural gas which causes prices to change fairly dramatically. Therefore, establishing a fixed price for any significant period of time is unfavorable.  By utilizing a month-to-month pricing strategy, we have experienced lower natural gas prices compared to Duke Energy every month since October 2016.
